This piece was inspired by the events of May 25, 2020 Minnesota, where George Floyd was murdered by a police officer, who pinned him down and kneeled on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, despite his cries of being unable to breathe. Sparking worldwide outrage, large protests against police brutality and systemic racism provoked the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement to be founded. Enough is enough!
Hansle Karra have taken the painting Sacerdotale Prayer, by the artist Eugene Burnand, and have created this piece reflecting the uproar and outrage from the world in response to the lack of equality for people of colour in the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
